Our client is a leading foreign owned bank in China and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced banker who is familiar with the metal and mining industry in mainland China.
The Metal & Mining segment focuses on large Chinese corporate clients who are involved in mining, producing and processing of commodities such as metal and energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Macro Risk Assessment
- Conduct annual industy analysis on commodities industy and produce regular reports to assist the sales team in identifying opportunities and risks.
- Procatively manage the risk of the portfolio assigned.
- Assume primary accountability for allocated customer risk by ensuring quality of due diligence and BCA write-up, and maintaining a continuous dialogue with Relationship Managers, Credit & Product Partners to ensure that they are monitored and controlled.
Business Expansion
- Be jointly responsible to achieve the quantative and qualitative performance objectives set for the Metal & Mining Portfolio in China.
- Coordinate the origination, development and execution of assigned commodity transactions.
- Jointly develop and manage local procedures (marketing, risk management, product development and operations etc.) to ensure that the China Metal & Mining business is run within the approved parameters of the Bank's policies and underwriting standards.
- Contribute to skills development of colleagues in China by sharing knowledge, experience and expertise.
- Support the global team when a commodity transaction has China involvement.
Credit Control & Compliance
- Ensure that the approval procedures and standards conform to controls and procedures established by Credit.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank's policies.
- Assist in monitoring credit quality by highlighting early warning signs of credit deterioration.
Ideal Candidates Should have the following:
- Commodity finance/structured trade finance experience gained from leading global banks of financial institutions within the Greater China marketplace.
- Strong knowledge of the China commodity sector.
- Advanced credit structuring and assessment skills and good knowledge of accounting & financial analysis.
- Legal/Documentation experience.
- Team Player mentality and collaborative nature.
- Willingness toi travel frequently - may involve visiting remote areas to see smelters, mines, refineries etc. http://ping.fm/Cpg2g
