Visa processing fees
Under Law no. 198 of 27 October 2008, the consular fees charged for visa processing are the following:

The visa processing fees are charged beforehand, in euro and US dollars, or in the currency of the state of residence, based on the average exchange rate to the euro.
In countries with a free currency market, visa fees are usually charged in euro or US dollars.
Visa fees charged in accordance with agreements between the EU and third states:
For nationals of third states with which the European Community has concluded bilateral visa facility conventions (the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro), the fees charged are those established under the respective agreements, i.e. 35 or 70 EURO. Visa processing continues to be free of charge for the Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Macedonia until Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area.

No visa fees are charged for the following categories of applicants:
Children under 6 years of age;
Students and undergraduates, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who travel to Romania for studies or training;
Researchers from third states who travel to the Community for scientific research purposes, as defined in Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research;
Foreign officials employed by international organizations that Romania is a party to;
Staff members of foreign diplomatic missions and consular posts, persons accompanying state and government officials, parliamentary delegations and other official guests, as well as their family members, on a basis of reciprocity.
!!! Long-stay visas for aliens who are family members of Romanian nationals shall be issued by the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular posts free of charge.
