To help applicants better understand whether they are subject to fees when applying to and studying in Sweden, studera.nu has created 9 student characters. These students have different profiles (citizenship, previous enrolment, etc.) in order to illustrate fee rules. When you come to a question and can answer "Yes", please follow the link to a conversation between a student and an admissions counselor. That conversation should help you with any questions that you may have. Are you a Swedish citizen? Yes — You are not required to pay application or tuition fees. For more information, please see Mikael´s conversation with an admissions counsellor. No — next question Are you a citizen of a Nordic country (Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway)? Yes — You are not required to pay application or tuition fees, but you must provide documentation that you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country. No — Next question Do you have citizenship in a European Union (EU) country, European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland? (Please note that you must have citizenship — having temporary or permanent residence in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland does not exempt you from paying fees.) List of EU/EEA countries Yes — You are not required to pay application or tuition fees. Please note that you are required to provide proof of your status as a citizen of an EU/EEA country. Yes — Because of your registration status, you are not required to pay an application fee; however, registration status does not exempt students from paying tuition fees and, as such, you may still be required to pay them. Yes - You may finish that course/courses without paying a tuition fee if you started before 1 July 2011. If you start a new course or courses after 1 July 2011, you will be required to pay tuition fees for that course/courses.
